My first thought is that it was written by someone who could use some spelling and punctuation lessons.

My second thought was that, yeah, it was written by a woman who envisions herself at "the top of The tree" as a way to rationalize and cope with not yet being "picked".

It reminds me of what my mother used to tell me when I was 13 and would cry about why the boys only seemed to like the other girls. She would say, "Oh honey, it's not that you're not pretty. You're just SO pretty they're intimidated by you."

Right.

I still don't know if I buy that business--not that I'm that pretty, but that fabulous girls never get chosen because they're SO great and it scares men--but what I do know is that what it comes down to is that the outcome is that you feel lonely and rejected, and it sucks.

And at that point, who cares if it's because men are scared shitless or you're just not pretty?

You just don't want to be alone anymore.

I'm from the city, so I don't know much about apple trees, but is it even true that that best apples or at the top of the tree? Or is it just that as we eat around the bruises and worms on the apple that we picked up from the ground, we romanticize the ones up top, shimmering in the sun, assuming they must be better?

*If the apples at the top in fact are better, then disregard this whole post.

WTF??? I, being female, would never have referred to women that way, or to totally discredit the men like that. It is more likely a downtrodden man, like He said. I would have to say that men are like PopRocks, they come alive in your mouth. Women- well, I don't always like them.
