walking to class one rainy day in small town japan, i had an umbrella in one hand, my walkman in the other (back when music players were gargantuan). two guys on a scooter drove up beside me and slowed down — i figured they wanted to try out their english on me or even just gawk at a foreign chick (a very common occurance).

as i turned towards them, the one on the back reached out & grabbed my , um, chest. he smirked & they sped off ….

Creepiness and groping on the street is past the limits. This is assault.

i had something of the same sort happen (again in Japan!) on a train in Tokyo in 1988 …. a little Wisco college girl (me) goes across the world to the bigass city of 15 million (or whatever) and gets crammed into a train like a sardine (yes, they really do have the station dudes with white gloves who push & cram all the hapless tokyo commuters into the cars).

i was wearing a long denim skirt with a slit up the back; i was hanging onto the overhead strap for dear life and could barely breathe with all the folks jammed in there (think DC metro on 4th of July, and then add another million more tourists).

some dude — never got a look at him as i couldnt move, let alone turn around — somehow got his hand up & inside my skirt and grabbed my behind. and held on/fondled for the good 10 minutes. by the time the train stopped and i managed to plow my way off the train and away from that nasty paw, i’d felt so helpless and stupid and humiliated that tears burned my eyes.

now, i’m always up for a good playful grope from a good bud (like brother November, for example). but random strangers?! where i had no control over the situation and couldnt escape? it’s an experience that gives me the major creeps, even all these years later.

(all that being said: that paul bunyun tale does sound kinda hot … almost, but not quite as hot as, say, the train scene in Risky Business … )

walking down the beach in the summer–g/f of the moment is taking a snooze and I’m just taking a walk. See a fine gal lying on her stomach with her bikini top straps undone. She gets up on her elbows (like a pushup) and gives me both a good look and a smile. I pause, and she can see I am looking from just a few feet away. She continues to smile. If g/f of the moment hadn’t been just down the way, it would have led to an interesting moment in the ocean. At the least, it led later to several interesting moments with the g/f, as I had my inspiration!

now, i’m all for PSAs re STDs and other nasty stuff; the NYT article was interesting reading. but i think it’s so much more interesting to think about creative ways to keep warm/hot in November …

one time, I had a g/f in another city who worked with a group of women in an office. I sent flowers to the office, with a note saying “Be My Valentine.” Delivery person walked into the office of women, said he had flowers for Mary, walked the flowers to Mary. Boy, did Mary and I have fun that weekend!

I’m a real man, myself. Different strokes for different folks. I survived five years of Wisco winters, both in Mad City and Eagle River. The cold perks you right up!

Now, besides dream visions of racks in midst of a cold (not DC cold, but real cold) Wisco winter, there were also sightings of real live racks in the open when hanging out at Lake Mendota and sailing with Hoofers. On a sail boat, you can really hang out.

Even in the winter, racks and perkiness can be admired, desired and worshipped! Save the ta-tas!!!!!!!!!

I don’t have Lake Mendota eyes. Today, I’m wearing a light blue shirt which matches my light blue eyes. I spent a few summers in the back of the Student Union, drinking beers after sailing on the lake.

To all, today is Leap Day, 2/29. Also known as Sadie Hawkins Day. Also known as the day single women can propose to men.

I’ve got my own memories of leaving women’s dorms in the early hours. one time, one of my female friends insisted I accompany her to brunch in the cafeteria on a Sunday morning. I thought then she just wanted to use her college dining room meal ticket. Now, I understand that she wanted to show off that she had got some the previous evening, as why else would I be with her early on a Sunday morning. those were the days!!!

Now, it’s having cyber breakfast with Neko and friends. I’d definitely tip Neko for a cup of coffee . . .

I’ve been thinking of you and realized recently that it has been some 60 days since you were T-60 and counting.
It has been fun meeting Neko, Mela, Haircutter, November and yourself on-line with the rest of the cast of characters who have been gathered by the almighty, all-beautiful, all-knowing, graceful Mela. (Neko, you are still the one, don’t worry).
I am most glad, however, to see you heading back to the good, old US of A. Freedom is precious.
